Tanta is about 90 km (56 miles) north of Cairo. It is the largest city in the Egyptian delta. Tanta is renown for a big mosque dedicated to El-Sayyed El-Badawy, a Moslem SufiWhat does it mean?, who fought against the crusaders.

Every year thousands of believers flock to the city to celebrate the mulidWhat does it mean?(saint's day) of El-Sayyed El-Badawy (See image above).

Apart from the mulid, the city is an example of most of Delta cities.
