Aqsunqur Mosque Aqsunqur Mosque
Photo by Raymon Kondos © 2009 Your Egypt

The mosque was built by Shams El-Din Aqsunqur, son-in-law of Bahari Mamluk Sultan El-Nasser Mohamed, in 1346.

The mosque is remarkable for its blue tiles. However these were added later in 1650s by Ibrahim Agha who usurped the mosque and made it his own.

The place is currently in restoration and not admissible to visitors.
