It is one of the finest examples of houses in old Cairo. The construction of 17th century house took the weather into considerations arranging the house to provide good ventilation and adaptation with the climate all over the year.

Still there is the usual Mamluk segregation between men's public area known as SalamlikWhat does it mean? and women's private section known as HaramlikWhat does it mean?. The house is built around a courtyard.
