The mausoleumWhat does it mean? and madrasaWhat does it mean? were built between 1242 and 1250 by Al-Saleh Negm El-Din Ayyub

, the last Sultan of the Ayyubid dynasty.

Al-Saleh was the husband of famous Shagaret El-Dorr, who completed the complex after his death in 1949. Later in the Mamluk period the madrasa became a central court where qadis (judges) were hearing cases presented before them.

The place is currently in restoration and not admissible to visitors.
