El-Ghouri is the penultimate Mamluk ruler. El-Ghouri died
in the war against the Ottomans
in 1516 and his body was never found so he is not actually
buried in the mausoleum
he built for himself.
Nevertheless, the mausoleum-madrasa
is also the final resting-place for his family members and
his successor who was hanged by orders of Selim
the Grim, the Ottoman Sultan who conquered Egypt in 1517.
The place is currently in restoration and not admissible
