The Sphinx The Sphinx
Photo courtesy of The Egypt Archive

The SphinxWhat does it mean? is about 20-meters high (66 feet) and its body is 73 meters (240 feet) in length. The statue is facing the rising sun from the east. It has a lion body and the face said to imitate the features of King Khafre, its builder.

The sphinx suffered from several troubles recently as fragments felt of it so the Egyptian government carried out restoration plans. Now the structure is in stable condition though still vulnerable.
