Nearby are three more pyramids built by kings of the 12th
dynasty.
The so-called Black Pyramid of Amenemhat
III (a.k.a. Ammenemes) looks like a mountain. Black mud-brick
was used in its construction, as its name suggests.
The White pyramid of Amenemhat
II is totally dilapidated and even the sloping angle could
not be measured.
The pyramid of Senwosret
III (also known as Sesostris in Greek) is also made of mud-brick
and is in a very bad condition. Around the pyramids are tombs
of the court officials and royal family members.
