Perhaps the failure of Snefru
to build a perfect pyramid prompted him to build this one also
2 kilometers (1.2 miles) north of his bent
pyramid.
This pyramid was built -from the beginning- at the angle of
43°, nearly similar to the angle of the upper part of the
bent pyramid. Red limestone were used in the construction, hence
came its current name.
The ruins of the pyramid's funerary temple are to the east-side.
Here you can also see pyramid-shaped capstones recently recovered
and restored.
