Main pyramids of southern Saqqara were built
by kings of the 5th
and 6th
dynasties. These include pyramids of Pepi
I, Pepi
II and Merenre.
The pyramids were built in the same way: the main pyramid with
an attached secondary pyramid within a funerary complex and
a similar complex of the queen -which in turn has a pyramid,
funerary temple and a secondary pyramid-.
The pyramids are generally in a very bad state of preservation.
