Italian War Memorial Italian War Memorial

The Italian cemetery is 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) further west to the German memorial. It is a high tower built on a hill approached through a cloister and is dedicated to about 4800 Italian soldiers.

The names of soldiers are inscribed in plaques that line the inside wall of the building. A mosque in the courtyard is built in commemoration of the Libyan soldiers who fought with the Axis.

The memorial is designed by Paolo Caccia Dominioni, former Officer of Engineers (Alpine). (See Image 2)
