Ras El-Tin Palace
Century-old photo by Zangaki
The palace was built by
Mohamed Ali
(r. 1805-1848). It was here that the last king of Egypt
Farouk
signed his abdication and sailed to Europe.
It is wonderful but unfortunately inaccessible to the public. It is used as a naval base and for hosting state guests.
