Zoo and Antoniadis Gardens Zoo and Antoniadis Gardens
Photo by Raymon Kondos © 2009 Your Egypt

It is a smaller version of Giza's zoo. Beside the zoo there is the gardens of Nozha and also the Antoniadis Gardens.

Though the zoo might look humble, the Antioniadis Gardens is a very good place for relaxation. It was founded by John Antioniadis, a Greek Alexandrian, in 1860. Later he gifted it to Alexandria's municipality in 1918. The design is that of Paul Richard who blended both Arab and Western styles in creating this splendid place.

The zoo has a number of Venus statues and several fountains as well as good collection of plants.
