Monastery of St. Paul Monastery of St. Paul

The monastery is 50 km (31 miles) off Suez-Hurghada road from Za'farana junction. It is dedicated to Saint Paul who was born in the 3rd century AD and was contemporary to St. Anthony.

Saint Paul might be considered the first monk and was once visited by St. Anthony. This can be evident in some icons of the monastery showing both saints together.

The monastery is smaller than that of St. Anthony but less sophisticated. The church of St. Paul is the most interesting of the monastery besides the unique serenity one can feel here.

The monastery has also a guest-house for visitors for both men and women.
