Dahab means (Gold) in Arabic. The name is said to describe the
glittering golden sand of the city. The city is another good
place for diving, snorkeling and swimming.
2.5 km (1.5 miles) to the north of Dahab lies the Bedouin village of Asalah
where budget tourists can find cheap accommodations and where
you can find most of camping sites.
Some Bedouins organize camel treks to inside the desert. You
should register with the police before your trip.
