Qubbet El-Hawa, literally 'dome of the wind', is located on
the west bank of the Nile.
A dome can be seen on the peak of the hill, from which came
its modern name.
The most visited landmarks of the site are, however, the ancient
rock-hewn Tombs of the Nobles located below on the side of the
hill. They are reached through two staircases from the riverbank
up to them.
The tombs are arrayed in two levels; the lower level is allocated
for tombs of the Old
Kingdom's nobles and the higher ones for the nobles of the
Middle
Kingdom.
