Ramesses
I is the founder of the 19th
dynasty. He ruled for two years only and this is why his
tomb is simple as it was hastily finished.
A stairway and a sloping corridor lead to another sloping corridor
and finally to the burial chamber which is the only place decorated.
This has two smaller rooms on its sides and a deep niche
on the back wall.
The granite sarcophagus
lies open on the chamber ground. The chamber and the niche have
paintings extracted from the Book of Gates. The decorations
also show the king with a number of deities.
