Harrison. Beating the batter and all does have its good side affects and all but tonight tried tinned curried mutton and kidney beans. with rice made the old fashioned way(I mean other than growing it...boiling the finished product). How does rice reproduce? I know the wind sort of makes them bend over each other but somehow doggy style(with any kind of stiff back) doesn't seem to click. hehehehe.

Anyway..it was a very nice quick meal and my compliments to that company that tins the stuff. I would like to try and make it myself sometime.

I have never been much into burny stuff until recently when I started thinking of acquiring a cane to help me jump from rock to rock when mountain climbing....its terrible, I could run down a mountain once , dodging rocks with split second agility...now I can hardly dodge a sexy poster without lecherous thoughts. Age is terrible. So need to nuke the taste buds a bit too

Well Harrison, you got any interesting recipes, I will take the risk of dying for them

When it comes to determining whether a disagreement is an insult or directive towards oneself for self improvement quite likely is determined how ones own ego and sense of self belief( and possibly if one perceives the one giving the criticism as clueless or perhaps wise)is willing to allow others to modify it..

There are times when one knows what another is saying could perhaps be true but one also knows they so wrapped up in their own paradigm (one that oneself happens to disagree with in other aspects)that if one agrees with them it will make them think their entire paradighm is succesfull just because it succeeded in one facet.

I tend to hold my tongue in real life when somebody is being belligerent because of some perceived thing I may have done. But if they just start trying to belittle me instead of berating my perceived fault then that is when I usually tell them to shut up and get out of my face. But I usually do not do it that directly, I usually just explain to them what has really happened(as I perceive it) and how they have perhaps misunderstood my efforts and the reasons possibly why I find their outburst so spectacularly unfair, then ask them never to cross my path again if they can help it.

But as you say..there is that 4th option. It actually takes very little effort and mainly plays on ones ego, it actually just needs to be ignored. (after all, it is not part of real life in that sense, it is only made possible by virtual reality...so use virtual reality instead of real life ego to put it into its proper place I would say).

Well, Harrison.........just for once, I knew exactly what I was looking for and I wasn't just wandering around thinking I'd know it when I saw it..

I was looking for a small, two seater, cream coloured sofabed.....we need a new sofa and we thought we might as well make it a sofabed while we were at it, I think that's the only reason she let me in (probably if I'd said I was looking for a couple of mugs, she'd have told me to get lost)

They DID have a nice one, but it was almost white and since I'm a bit accident prone I didn't think that would be a great idea

Glad the situation with your assistant has been resolved I'm also going back to a new classroom assistant, the last one I had was a really nice woman, but God she was hopeless Our boss likes to rotate them, so next time I'm getting one who's ultra-efficient, in fact she might be the one who has a problem with ME......

Roughshod, I think that taking pride in what you do, whatever it is, and having the decency to ask for a fair price is maybe a luxury that many Egyptians don't have......it's all about survival for them, it's about putting food on the table for their families for that day.

I understand the struggle it must be for some egyptians, especially if they're in the tourist trade and there is no guarantee that tomorrow, they'll get ANY customers at all, the temptation to milk people for what you can get today must be very hard to resist.....but if only they'd try and see the longer term picture, I'm sure it would make them more money in the long run. I mean the longer term picture not only regarding regular visitors like me, or residents like Harrison...I mean the bigger picture of how Egyptian shopkeepers or taxi drivers are perceived in general.

If ratty is not her, then she is being disadvantaged by him....she seems to be a decent person just doing what we all do, finding acceptance of who we are.

Sharmcliff resident. As much as I sympothise with you over an unfullfilled dream, con artists for years have been taking people for a ride using the visions of peoples dreams . One would like to trust others in an environment of economic upliftment but it seems there is a fine line between greed and making a bargain. Negotiations between people are usually driven by a desire of the buyer to get a good deal with the seller of a product. Your seller now seems to be afflicted by alzheimers and you inherit the wife instead. It is unfortunate that such a thing should happen since she does not seem greedy enough to allow the place to be taken over by somebody else. But she does not seem capable of doing the administration herself?

As you said, she relies on the income of tenants to keep her going. That is an ongoing income she holds dear it seems to her continued financial existance. Yet, if what Harrison says is true.........The law now states that buyers(seller to you in this case) have only 3 years from buying the land to completing the building or else they lose it..... is it her land? She will lose everything if it s not. She has not completed building upon it...who decides if the land has building completed on it ? The major problem is you always linked to her fate, I am sure there must be some law in that country that allows you to be indemnified by the state when they take over land that has been approppriated by the state for failure of a buyer to meet the criteria set by the state

Who knows, if you could make this possibility real to that woman, she may take better care of her estate.

secondly, you own a part of the estate yourself, she is just an administrator of it, she does not own your place...you actually her boss?

You telling me there is no lawyer that can help you?

Unfortunately ratty does not have the means to make a point, so ratty tries not to make a point, so that ratty can be unnoticed noticeably .

It will not help to try and make ratty realize that there is more to life. Life does not want ratty, but ratty wants life. ratty unfortunately will be chasing life as we present it because he likes what we say.

So lets just give ratty a miss as life does and regard anything from ratty as a misfortunate glitch in communication that should be ignored.

A stray kitten appeared on my front doorstep in the middle of the night. I now have a new cute kitty. She's a black and gray tabby shorthaired. She's very young. And she's super hyper. I named her Simba. And she doesn't let me out of her sight.
